    As we continue to spotlight Breast Cancer Awareness, I have chosen to honor my aunt who recently finished chemo and a breast lift.  In the early stages of treatment, my aunt needed a bra that gave support.  A front closure bra is the ideal.  My aunt was fortunate that they were able to remove all of the cancer through surgery, so she is able to wear underwire bras now.

    Don’t forget that women with a mastectomy form or without can wear beautiful bras.  It helps give you the “psychological lift” you need to recover.  I encourage every woman to be there after a friend or loved one has had a diagnosis.  Go with them for the post-surgical bra fitting.  During the month of October, anyone who purchases bras from Lingerie Fit Expert is helping to save lives.  A donation is being given to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation through our online retailer Bare Necessities.  Thank you!

    The season has changed and the count down begins for the end of the year shortly.  Staying home and just chilling just seems to click.  Loungewear is perfect this time of year.  The category has grown tremendously.  Athletic apparel used to be worn or do you remember “sweats”.  I know some of you still have some, but now girlfriend it’s time for an upgrade.  If you have children or you have to jaunt to the store, you can look pulled together instantly.  Relax and get comfortable in style diva.

    As I was watching Lady Gaga on the Today Show and her videos, the Fame Monster as she affectionately calls herself wears great fitting bras.  Bravo Lady Gaga! Some have been simple and some bedazzled and some a big WOW.  I am a fan of the beautiful bra.  The bra that when we put it on says ” I need to be seen”.

    Of course, the majority of us are not bold enough like Ms. LG, but we have those times when if we are going to show it, flaunt it and look fantastic.  The ruffle top, and vintage inspired collections that have returned have allowed us to wear lace with seams.  As we approach fall, put a lace bra on the list.  Black is back in a big way, but keep it sexy with a touch of color.  Bella…

    The Maxi Dress is my new style and fashion find for the summer.  I wear it to the pool, evening events and just lounging.  It was imperative that I find the right bra.  The straps are thin and the design of the dress is low plunge.  At first I almost rejected the style, then I found the perfect strapless to compliment.  Strapless is one of the best items a woman can own to take her wardrobe to another level.  I use the same strapless for my T-shirts.  By having a strap to attach, you have a multiple solution. The halter or low back is your friend.  Don’t forget, size is everything with a strapless bra.  Summer is a great time to check your fit and make sure your wearing the correct size bra.  Now there is a solution for A cups to J cups and beyond.  Show it off this summer girlfriend!

    The other day I was at the mall and saw a woman wearing a black sun dress that was stunning until I walked up to her closer and saw her bra straps.  I am sure we have all had wardrobe malfunctions and challenges.

    What’s a woman to do?  We as women should always be thinking about arming ourselves with summer wardrobe solutions that empower us to live life to the fullest.   I am certain that the woman I noticed only wanted to wear her beautiful dress, but was not equipped with the right undergarments. I believe in solutions, not problems, so my recommendation for the black dress diva would have been a bra that allows you to take off the straps and do a clear strap. The other option, and a big come back trend is the tube top.  The tube top can be a bra or an entire camisole that provides a shapewear solution as well.  I love this!

    One of the advantages of wearing the tube top is that it can be worn underneath a jacket or shrug for another wardrobe solution.  Anytime you can get two for one, it’s a score. A tube top bra in color is another fashion solution for when the dress is too low.  If you had a print dress and wanted to pop color underneath, the bra would appear to be a camisole. The tube top is also another way to wear spaghetti strap dresses.   Simple ideas such as this make getting dressed fun.

    Your Shape, Your Way – The Torsolette

    A couple of years ago when I saw infomercials showcasing shapewear that had a bra peeking out of the top, I thought NO WAY!  I am not recommending nor would I ever consider wearing this myself.  As they say, never say never…In late fall, I tried one on a client who had mentioned she never could find shapewear that fits.  It was no joke, and I went through several collections until we pulled out the then “no way” undergarment.  Winner! My client beamed for joy and her challenge had ended.  It again proves that one style does not do it all for every woman. The torsolette is the hottest trend in shaping.  It allows you to wear the bra of your choice while the torsolette tones and trims your mid section.  As we enter into summer, this is a must have if you have had challenges wearing shapewear camisoles or one piece undergarments that have pulled you down, or not provided enough lift.

    I would also recommend for people who have lower back pain.  I have had several clients report back that they stood taller, and they did not feel so frumpy and there lower back pain disappeared.   Remember, if you don’t have shape, lift and support your undergarments are not working for you.

    So many times when we get dressed in the morning it feels like a struggle to wear anything body conscious when we have “issues”.  This is no longer the case when so many amazing companies are designing shapewear that is sexy and a solution.  My favorite part of being a Lingerie Fit Expert is providing women with confidence.  It’s that go and do it diva attitude that we need to get dressed in the morning daily.

    This week we are launching our brand new shapewear guide Shape – Fit – Solutions, Get Dressed with Confidence!  Shapewear as a category has grown by leaps and bounds.  So many of our clients wanted to know how to maximize their figure with different styles of shapewear complimented by bra fit solutions or underwear.  The Shape Fit Solutions link on our site is dedicated to fashion and shapewear recommendations.  We will change out the information based on season trends or special occasions.   We will begin in April.

    Spring has now arrived, and we are excited to share the top trends of the season including shapewear that is to be seen.  The layering/shaping camisole is one of my favorites and it continues to be a hit for women who want to look sensational in body conscious clothing.

    You can take the shaping camisole and pair it with a no line panty.  This is just one example of what you can expect from Shape Fit Solutions.

    Golden Globes Style Watch – Rules for The Red Carpet

    The Winner is…

    It’s award season and the Golden Globes always marks the kick off.  As usual the stars will have on their favorite designers and the need for the perfect undergarment is imperative.  Can you imagine zillions of people looking at every part of your body?  My bet is going to be that the long dress, no straps and body hugging is going to be the norm for most.   A one piece solution (if possible) would be my pick for the woman who does not want to deal with a bra and panty shaper.  As we have all seen on the red carpet, sometimes “the girls” are either in control or out.  Yikes!  It is not easy to find the perfect undergarment all the time as well all have experienced when going to a special occasion.  Here are some guidelines for your own red carpet moments:

      Select a dress that compliments your personality and your curves – Feeling confident when you enter the room is just as important as how the dress looks.

    • Try on undergarments with the dress prior to leaving for the occasion.  Can you spell disaster?  I spoke to a Hollywood stylist about this and she says it happens more than you can imagine.
    • Am I comfortable for a long period of time?  I use a term with my clients “take a test drive.  Can you sit down? Breathe?  Even the shapewear and intimate apparel you purchase for the dress should follow the same standard.
