Last Spring we blogged about the new “it” color Grey. As I flip through Elle, In Style, and Vogue and more, the color has become a mainstay for the upcoming fall season. Versatile, and can easily mixed and splashed with vibrant colors such as red and violet. The floral trend has also remained. Flowers and lingerie just seem to go together.

As I have mentioned before, you just want to make sure it’s seamless so that it creates smooth lines. This applies to every woman including full fit/full figure ladies. I was forwarded pictures of a lovely young diva in training by her grandmother/wardrobe stylist Vicki Nichols of Doncaster Womens Apparel trying on a TC Shapewear Camisole. It stopped me in my tracks. If pictures could talk, I believe she was saying “Wow, my sundress really fits”, or Check me out! I have an amazing shape”. I believe the main lesson here is how she is not afraid to look in the mirror and try solutions. 
When was the last time we have done this ourselves? Do we pass a rack of clothes and or review the fashion mags and flip the pages fast because we feel silently “I can’t wear this”. Take a lesson from our diva in training. Look in the mirror, strike a pose and find a solution that helps you look and feel good. Celebrate the inner child in you that is fearless.

The “Top” is the focus for fall. Most of the fashion mags are showing the top paired with pants, skirts and the return of the cardigan sweater. When it comes to outerwear/shapewear how perfect that you don’t have to worry about what’s underneath. One top does do it all, and many companies are following the trend. One piece of fit advice would be to possibly go up a size because they tend to fit snug. The right size bra is a requirement. I have seen women wearing items such as this and the bra is “cutting” and making lines. The focus should be on you, not a bad bra fit. A contour bra lightly lined is my suggestion for the total smooth package. Get your dance on, because you will celebrate when you see how good you look!
Can you believe that in less than a month the kick off for fall will begin. I am always scouting around for the hot picks early in order to educate my clients on the must have season items. This fall it’s all about body wear including leggings that lift the rear. Can everyone say oh yeah!

Leggings have become the staple of every fashionista. You can put them under a wrap dress, and make a fashion forward statement or the usual tunic sweater or blouse and you have an instant outfit. Women with curves can also enjoy the trend. Plus sizes are available. A boot cut helps to shape your thighs and give you proportion (did you know that?). As your preparing your fall wardrobe for either back to school and or work, this is a fall find of the season.

The Maxi Dress is my new style and fashion find for the summer. I wear it to the pool, evening events and just lounging. It was imperative that I find the right bra. The straps are thin and the design of the dress is low plunge. At first I almost rejected the style, then I found the perfect strapless to compliment. Strapless is one of the best items a woman can own to take her wardrobe to another level. I use the same strapless for my T-shirts. By having a strap to attach, you have a multiple solution. The halter or low back is your friend. Don’t forget, size is everything with a strapless bra. Summer is a great time to check your fit and make sure your wearing the correct size bra. I am a champion for women of every size. As a plus size diva myself, I applaud any manufacturer who provides women with options that make her feel beautiful and allow her to express her personal style regardless of size. It is just a number, right? In the bra fit world, the size issue has been resolved with designs for women from a D to K. I remember my own journey of walking into a store to purchase a “G” and the stares and gasps were heard from the sales people. As a D, I have a plethora of styles to choose from any day of the week, but I have not forgotten what it feels like to be the other woman.

Now, I can personally service any client in this category and provide over 100 styles. I find it inspiring that Lingerie companies got it together and developed sizes that fit for women with curves. I guess the metaphor is true…“change begins on the inside first”. Lingerie is an important connection to self, and besides with all those fabulous clothes coming down the pike based on the article, a woman will be able to wear anything including body conscious, trend, and designer. In my opinion, shapewear will reign as the “Must Have Item” for women to embrace every trend. How wonderful, intimate apparel and fashion have an exciting future together.

The debate continues with women around the country whether showing your bra straps is ok or not. I am a firm believer in fashion/style, and sometimes a bra strap incorporated correctly makes sense. A white tank top and zebra bra straps, I would have to arrest you. I think we all agree that clean lines and all eyes on you is the goal. 
The new trend is to layer your tanks. A new twist on things is a return to the tube top. It provides the support of a bra and gives another layer of “shape”. Your bulges can smooth away with this solution/fashionista option

As spring unfolds, I have noticed something new in the color story category. Navy Blue is the new “it” color of the season. It started with the Oscars when the stars stepped out of the box from their usual suspects Black or White.

Although it was done and very well by some, Navy Blue and its sister tones took the center stage and shined big time! I have noticed it is being incorporated with lilac as well as yellow. It’s super fashionista and it takes a woman’s wardrobe to another level. I have been recommending navy blue bras instead of black to my clients.

The swimwear this season has also been hit with the blue bug. My mother is a lover of Navy Blue and it reminds me of the 60’s. Women were very stylish and navy was considered dramatic and “next level”.
