    Valentines Lingerie Shopping – Loving You!

    The sexiest time of the year is here.  I adore Valentines Day and all the girlie girl stuff.   There is something for every woman.  I remember the days when big puffy slippers and a sheer or silk night gown was considered “the gift”.  Thank goodness we have evolved and the types of gifts and styles for women range from cotton pajamas, sexy bras to two piece sets that work after the special day.  We as women need to connect to this holiday beyond just the boyfriend or husband ritual.  That is just as important, but loving yourself in lingerie is a 365 day affair.  I started being a fan of Valentines Day shopping for me when I saw the vase selection of styles come through the door when I worked in retail.  I thought, wow, this is the time to shop!  The vendors pull out all the stops, and after the big day is over it’s usually sale mania (my favorite).  You can grab some major deals on matching bra and panty sets ( Lingerie Fit Expert Must Have).

    As for a color story, red and black are the norm, but have you tried the new it color of the season “purple”.  Surprise someone special with a smoking hot purple frock or matching set.  Every fashion magazine is screaming purple passion mania.  I also believe white is perfect as a transition to spring and summer that are right around the corner.

    If you are full fit and fabulous, I highly recommend Freya for beautiful lingerie that is sophisticated and spectacular in fit!  La Perla has taken the limits off this year with a fabulous red and black lace set that fits like a dream.  Several of my clients have purchased and can not thank me enough.  This is a collector and could be worn under the right blouse as a camisole affect.  Think beyond what you see.  Lingerie is a “solution” now for fashion as well.

    Lingerie Party on Extra – Fit Matters!

    I had a blast hosting a lingerie segment for Extra LifeChangers program. The first segment featured a new mom who was having challenges finding lingerie help. The second segment features me and eight women, all different sizes who utilize one garment to find solutions to their wardrobe problems. Each woman who did the segment all walked away with an excitement regarding the advice I gave personally to each one of them.

    I feel so honored that the passion I have for lingerie continues to grow when you hear someone say ” Thanks I really needed the help!” I walked away truly inspired to stay on my mission regarding the importance of a great fit. Some of the girls were college grads, others were women 50 plus who had felt a little self conscious about their body image. Take control today!     Are you working it? The importance of Sports Bras

    As we enter the tail end of January 2010, I know for most of us, we have made our resolutions to loose weight, go to the gym, and just be more active.  As a friendly reminder, make sure you own a sports bra and do not work out in your regular bra.  A sports bra is designed to give specific engineering and lift for women.  A regular bra, although supportive is designed for shaping the breasts, but not for jumping, running, etc.  When doing fittings for clients, I have seen numerous women walk in with blown out bras.  I always ask in the consultation, do you own a sports bra?  A few will say yes, but the majority will boldly say no, and have sixteen reasons why.  This is not ok.  I always compare it to wearing the same shoes day in and day out for one year.  Your shoes and your feet would be worn out!

    Just like a regular bra, you can select the type of impact you need to get your work out on!  If you are a pilates or yoga lover, then low impact or no wire solutions will work well for you.  If you play tennis or run, you will want to select a firm or compression garment that keeps your ladies in place but does not bind or pinch.  If you’re a AA or smaller cup, they have heard the voices of women who said we need a little help.  You can find contour or molded solutions to give you more shape.  The full figure customer has awesome choices, finally…

    Sneak Peak at Spring

    Spring is almost near, and since we have had record breaking cool temps, we wanted to bring our own form of sunshine with a peak at trends coming for Spring 2010.  Simple statements and fresh color patterns are on the horizon.  Stripes mixed with dashes of color and bold orange is the signature color of the season.  I call it a mix of retro fresh chic.  I have always encouraged my clients to select lingerie to go with the season trends. The must have item in my lingerie drawer every season is a color story of camisoles that go with the seasons trend.  This winter I picked hot pink.  I took my basic black wardrobe and pushed it to another level with splashes of hot pink underneath.

    Red Carpet Essential – Body Beautiful, Body

    The Golden Globes were awesome!  The lists of best dressed and not are still being debated on the chatter boxes.  I celebrate any woman who has to strut in front of millions of people for a public review.  I know for myself I used to get super nervous walking in front of any establishment in which people were sitting down to eat and could gaze out the window and stare as you pass by.  It was frightening to me.  Now, I am fearless and fancy free.  I have learned how to embrace every aspect of my body with much love even on days I know there is a challenge.  It all began when I worked as a stylist and a lingerie expert for a leading department store.  I learned how to train my eye to catch the “issues” that would keep me from being confident on the inside and outside.

    One of my favorite stylists, in fact I will add Master Stylists one of few in the world is Carla Mathis, Co-Founder of Body Beautiful.  A woman’s personal architect for looking sensational is how I describe her services.  They wardrobe you head to toe, and provide recommendations on style and fit.  The same technique that Carla has developed is used for styling women for award shows and for “personal branding”.  It all begins by asking the client or yourself, what are my winning features that make me unique?  This question begins the excavation for fabulous you… I find this a very positive approach to discovering how to look your best.  The winners on the red carpet certainly mastered this question to create that “Awe” moment.

    Have you ever had one of those days when you wanted to look super cute and comfortable with minimum effort?  Put on some cute shoes, jewelry and a handbag and you’re done!  If I was going to pick a 2010 outfit of the year, it would be the long tee.  I saw the Splendid Tee and it was the dream outfit aforementioned.  Layer it up, layer it down.  Perfection!  This with leggings is a woman’s best friend for a day on the go or traveling to a destination like a spa.  If you find yourself self conscious in a fitted shirt, then you have permission to add a shapewear camisole on top.  Body conscious clothing is not to be feared.  Shapewear is your friend.

    New Year! Let’s Celebrate You Underneath It All!

    As we enter another decade (hard to believe), I reflect on how lingerie has changed over the past ten years.  Lingerie has shifted from basic panties and bras to “must have wear” for every woman.   The New Year symbolizes a time to reflect, renew, and be a whole new you.  Let’s begin with a look into your lingerie drawer.  Ok, don’t be afraid, I know you have panties and bras from 2000, but it’s time to let go and revive your wardrobe solutions.  Here we go:

    1. Out with the old in with the new!  Toss away worn, torn, and soiled lingerie.  No exceptions!  Did you know that the majority of women believe they need push up bras because only their bras don’t have “lift”
