I absolutely love precious stones.  The color palette  in lingerie looks similar to some of the stones I love including rose quartz and turquoise.  Turquoise is such a strong, passionate stone.   It’s a color that looks spectacular on just about anyone. Finding the right shade for you is the key. The bra can be work as a peek-a-boo camisole with the right blouse or shirt. A t-shirt adds a fresh pop of color to neutral, chocolate, or black.   Remember, fashion lingerie is made to compliment fashion trends.

Finding a shade in pale tones may not work if you’re ethnic or have dark undertones.  Find a way to work turquoise into this season’s wardrobe.

Your Shape, Your Way – The Torsolette

A couple of years ago when I saw infomercials showcasing shapewear that had a bra peeking out of the top, I thought NO WAY!  I am not recommending nor would I ever consider wearing this myself.  As they say, never say never…In late fall, I tried one on a client who had mentioned she never could find shapewear that fits.  It was no joke, and I went through several collections until we pulled out the then “no way” undergarment.  Winner! My client beamed for joy and her challenge had ended.  It again proves that one style does not do it all for every woman. The torsolette is the hottest trend in shaping.  It allows you to wear the bra of your choice while the torsolette tones and trims your mid section.  As we enter into summer, this is a must have if you have had challenges wearing shapewear camisoles or one piece undergarments that have pulled you down, or not provided enough lift.

I would also recommend for people who have lower back pain.  I have had several clients report back that they stood taller, and they did not feel so frumpy and there lower back pain disappeared.   Remember, if you don’t have shape, lift and support your undergarments are not working for you.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms, grandmothers and even new moms to be! As we enter into this treasured holiday season, I took a moment to think about what would be the perfect gift for mom in the lingerie department.

This year, I selected the “Lingerie Wardrobe”.  I define this as the items that most women would not buy themselves, but secretly have them on their wish list.  The luxurious camisole and panties or the cotton candy soft to the touch night shirt….why not all three?

These items are versatile and can help mom go from day to evening.  When I worked in retail, women would always mention how they loved the practical items such as cotton underwear or a night shirt when exchanging gifts.   You can give mom basic cotton to stretch micro fiber. Have a wonderful day!

Don’t get caught in the wrong stuff… – Underwear We Love

If you have already started shopping for your summer wardrobe, it’s so important to add new underwear to your list.  Last summer I got caught in an embarrassing situation as I left home in my white sundress looking awesome (so I thought).  I stopped by the cleaners to pick up items and as I was approaching I caught a glimpse of my blaring nude underwear showing through my white dress.  Mortified… The Lingerie Fit Expert was a potential magazine article of “Don’t Do This”!  So what was the problem?  The nude was not my shade.  I scrambled home and went searching through my drawer.  I tried nude, I tried black, it was still a train wreck.  Finally, the answer came when I pulled out a pair of chocolate brown thongs.  It matched my skin tone, and disappeared under my clothes.

Do you have your own not so special moment?  I am sure we could swap story after story.  When you’re shopping for underwear, remember to think past just nude, black or white.  Think about shades and tones you may have not considered before to prepare for wardrobe malfunctions.  Everything does not have to be totally seamless.  A touch of lace at the right locations on underwear is totally fine.  You want to own at least 10 or more pairs of underwear and now companies are giving incentives such as $1 off each pair for buying three or more.  No more excuses and emergencies.  Your covered girlfriend!

Trends – Vintage Inspired

In Style Magazine recently reviewed new bras for women.  It was well done, and wow what a collection.  It is so awesome to see that women of every size and shape can truly have their own style.

As I reviewed lingerie trends for spring, my favorite pick is vintage inspired lingerie.

Vintage is timeless, and if you’re a woman who likes to collect lingerie, it’s a must have. It appears that dresses and being ultra feminine is the key this season.  A vintage bra and panty set would be the ultimate accessory to your wardrobe. Regardless if you can not see it, you know how fabulous you feel and look.

It does not cost a fortune to do the vintage look.  Prices range from $24 to $60 for a bra and $10 to $30 for the bottom half.  Create a new expression of you with a return to classic intimate apparel that celebrates the old, but brings out a bold new woman in you!

In the mid 90’s designer and icon Josie Natori began a line of lingerie camisole tops that you could wear out.  At first, my clients did not understand the concept.  They would always ask, is this to be seen?  I would always be so excited to show them how to incorporate the tee into their wardrobe.  I personally rocked an orange v-neck camisole of hers for years!Spring is a time to be creative in your shopping.

If you have a limited budget, you can make an item like a tank top go a long way.  It can become a layering piece or a daywear top for the right jeans or skirt.  I personally use more lingerie solutions than I do ready wear now because I get so much more for my money.

Advice:  On a budget?  Reinvent your entire wardrobe by purchasing three or four key camisoles.  Select different styles including no sleeve, long sleeve, prints and solids.  You will be amazed how your wardrobe will look brand new!

So many times when we get dressed in the morning it feels like a struggle to wear anything body conscious when we have “issues”.  This is no longer the case when so many amazing companies are designing shapewear that is sexy and a solution.  My favorite part of being a Lingerie Fit Expert is providing women with confidence.  It’s that go and do it diva attitude that we need to get dressed in the morning daily.

Valentines Lingerie Shopping – Loving You!

The sexiest time of the year is here.  I adore Valentines Day and all the girlie girl stuff.   There is something for every woman.  I remember the days when big puffy slippers and a sheer or silk night gown was considered “the gift”.  Thank goodness we have evolved and the types of gifts and styles for women range from cotton pajamas, sexy bras to two piece sets that work after the special day.  We as women need to connect to this holiday beyond just the boyfriend or husband ritual.  That is just as important, but loving yourself in lingerie is a 365 day affair.  I started being a fan of Valentines Day shopping for me when I saw the vase selection of styles come through the door when I worked in retail.  I thought, wow, this is the time to shop!  The vendors pull out all the stops, and after the big day is over it’s usually sale mania (my favorite).  You can grab some major deals on matching bra and panty sets ( Lingerie Fit Expert Must Have).

As for a color story, red and black are the norm, but have you tried the new it color of the season “purple”.  Surprise someone special with a smoking hot purple frock or matching set.  Every fashion magazine is screaming purple passion mania.  I also believe white is perfect as a transition to spring and summer that are right around the corner.

If you are full fit and fabulous, I highly recommend Freya for beautiful lingerie that is sophisticated and spectacular in fit!  La Perla has taken the limits off this year with a fabulous red and black lace set that fits like a dream.  Several of my clients have purchased and can not thank me enough.  This is a collector and could be worn under the right blouse as a camisole affect.  Think beyond what you see.  Lingerie is a “solution” now for fashion as well.

This year, I am recommending bra sets to clients.  They are the gift that keeps on giving.  You can use it everyday beyond the special occasion.  Remember, loving you goes beyond just Valentines Day.  It’s all about loving yourself without limits daily.  You are the gift.  Have a wonderful day…

Lingerie Party on Extra – Fit Matters!

I had a blast hosting a lingerie segment for Extra LifeChangers program. The first segment featured a new mom who was having challenges finding lingerie help. The second segment features me and eight women, all different sizes who utilize one garment to find solutions to their wardrobe problems. Each woman who did the segment all walked away with an excitement regarding the advice I gave personally to each one of them.

I feel so honored that the passion I have for lingerie continues to grow when you hear someone say ” Thanks I really needed the help!” I walked away truly inspired to stay on my mission regarding the importance of a great fit. Some of the girls were college grads, others were women 50 plus who had felt a little self conscious about their body image. Take control today!
